Waste strategy

Managing waste for a brighter future

The waste management team is responsible for the collection and disposal of all municipal waste. We work in partnership with Worcestershire County Council. The Municipal Waste Management Strategy for Herefordshire and Worcestershire sets out the objectives for the two counties.

You have helped to recycle more than 40 per cent of household waste in Herefordshire. We are relying on your support to continue to reduce the impact of waste management services on the environment.

The Joint Municipal Waste Management Strategy (JMWMS) for Herefordshire and Worcestershire, 2004-2034

The original Joint Municipal Waste Management Strategy was produced in 2004 and reviewed and updated in 2009/10. The new strategy took into account changes made to legislation and responded to the need to continue to develop our waste management services in the face of increasing costs and lack of waste treatment capacity.

Driven by government and European legislation and a higher social awareness, we all need to rethink how we deal with our waste.

This reviewed Joint Municipal Waste Management Strategy for Herefordshire and Worcestershire sets out the problems, looks at our success to date, where we are now and how we can move forward.
