All recycling and waste collections take place as normal on bank holidays, with the exception of Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year's Day.

Clinical waste

We operate a clinical waste collection service for domestic clients throughout Herefordshire. The service is carried out by a waste collection contractor using a dedicated vehicle and is taken for disposal by incineration at an approved plant. The service includes the collection and disposal of needles, syringes and sharps in appropriate containers.

Do you collect domestic clinical waste and sharps/needles?

Yes, we collect clinical waste on a weekly basis from domestic properties or nursing homes without medical facilities in the county.

Clinical waste includes the following items:

  • Soiled medical dressings contaminated with bodily fluids or blood
  • Used syringes and needles in appropriate sharps containers
  • Other waste from a resident suffering with an infectious disease
  • Stoma (such as colostomy and urine bags)
  • Incontinence pads

We provide:

  • a sealed yellow bucket for sharps
  • yellow sacks for other clinical waste

When a sharps bucket is full please contact us to arrange collection.

We collect sacks weekly. Sacks should be outside the property by 6.30am on the day of collection and must be tied securely and tagged. 

Our waste collection contractor uses a dedicated vehicle and takes the waste for disposal by incineration at an approved plant.

Please note: you must present the clinical waste for collection in the recognised bags or containers. You should never mix clinical waste with ordinary waste in black bags.
